Scott Hanselman of .NET fame developed a little web tool called smallestdotnet that sniffs your browser agent and detects which version of the .NET framework you have installed on your computer. The tool then suggests the smallest download possible to update to the latest version (.NET Framework 3.5 SP1). According to the site, I'm running .NET Framework 2.0 on my local box and the smallest possible download for me is 33 MB.
This is especially useful if just want to download the update as fast as possible. After all, downloading a 50 MB file is faster than a 200 MB one (unless the server hosting the 50 MB file is slow as molasses).
Check it out and thank Scott Hanselman for it.
