There are tons upon tons of eCommerce solutions out there. Our ECF is among the litany of platform choices out there that is great for .NET professionals and organizations, but not as great if you're self-employed and don't know a lick of programming code. From Google Checkout, to Amazon WebStore, to ECF, it's difficult for any individual or organization to pick and choose which eCommerce platform best suits their needs now and for the future. There's nothing worse than committing to a platform, spending months migrating your entire IT infrastructure, only to find out that it doesn't support multiple catalogs--and it's Christmas season. If the software isn't flexible, then it becomes a major headache for your company to implement a must-have feature.
So I stumbled upon fitforcommerce.com, a consulting company dedicated to finding the "best fit" solution for your commerce business. You go through an insanely rigorous questionnaire of about 2000 questions (part of their "disciplined methology" of eCommerce Diligence). FitforCommerce's philosophy is making sure businesses understand the impact a platform will have on their sales, marketing, infrastructure, and processes. Their "eCommerce Diligence" toolkit is meant to help clients assess the marketplace, plan accordingly, and know what's not included in an eCommerce platform.
If I were a large business or corporation ready to make the switch, I want to have that proper attention to detail. I want to make sure I don't invest thousands or even millions into an implementation that may break my eCommerce presence in the marketplace. It's an ultra-competitive commerce market. We want to sell and our competitors want to sell. But in the end, it's about your needs and capabilities as a business; pick what's best for the overall health and growth of your company.
It seems that FitforCommerce does have the expertise and knowledge base to help with just that.
