Find the Right Commerce Solution Using FitforCommerce

There are tons upon tons of eCommerce solutions out there. Our ECF is among the litany of platform choices out there that is great for .NET professionals and organizations, but not as great if you're self-employed and don't know a lick of programming code. From Google Checkout, to Amazon WebStore, to ECF, it's difficult for any individual or organization to pick and choose which eCommerce platform best suits their needs now and for the future. There's nothing worse than committing to a platform, spending months migrating your entire IT infrastructure, only to find out that it doesn't support multiple catalogs--and it's Christmas season. If the software isn't flexible, then it becomes a major headache for your company to implement a must-have feature.

So I stumbled upon fitforcommerce.com, a consulting company dedicated to finding the "best fit" solution for your commerce business. You go through an insanely rigorous questionnaire of about 2000 questions (part of their "disciplined methology" of eCommerce Diligence). FitforCommerce's philosophy is making sure businesses understand the impact a platform will have on their sales, marketing, infrastructure, and processes. Their "eCommerce Diligence" toolkit is meant to help clients assess the marketplace, plan accordingly, and know what's not included in an eCommerce platform.

If I were a large business or corporation ready to make the switch, I want to have that proper attention to detail. I want to make sure I don't invest thousands or even millions into an implementation that may break my eCommerce presence in the marketplace. It's an ultra-competitive commerce market. We want to sell and our competitors want to sell. But in the end, it's about your needs and capabilities as a business; pick what's best for the overall health and growth of your company.

It seems that FitforCommerce does have the expertise and knowledge base to help with just that.

It's been light this week with much of our attention focused on one of our major products. But today

I happened to meet Bernadine Wu, founder of FitForCommerce.com by chance at the exact moment I needed help finding a new eCommerce platform.

I knew we didn't have the internal resources to go through a full requirements defininition and RFP process.  Enter Fit For Commerce.  In less than 12 hours I had a proposal.  In less than 24 hours we were engaged.  Inside of one week, we'd reviewed 1800 potential business requirements and were well on our way to a rock solid RFP.

Fast forward to today - we're midstream in our implementation, for an on-time and on-budget launch this fall.  It would have taken me a year to complete the work FFC helped with, and I'm not sure we wouldn't have missed something along the way.

What I got from our engagement with FitForCommerce was the speed I needed to meet my timelines and the confidence I needed to ensure nothing was missed.

We've worked with FitForCommerce a few times now and they really do bring a lot to the table. The 2,000+ line "functional checklist" is a little intimidating at first, but it actually ended up being extremely helpful to have a standardized format and set of terminology that we could all work around and revisit. The FFC team is very professional and they are able to cut through a lot of the ambiguity inherent to our industry and quickly connect e-retailers with the vendors who truly suit their specific needs.

@Steve Jones, @Avery Amaya: Thanks for the feedback on your experiences with FitforCommerce.  It seems that FFC has done an extraordinary job in getting your implementations done as smoothly as possible.
